Doyle New York to auction Old Master, Modern and Contemporary prints in November

NEW YORK, N.Y.- Doyle New York will offer a fine selection of prints in the Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints auction on November 7, 2011 at 1pm.

Old Master Prints feature Albrecht Durer, Christ Before Caiaphas, engraving, 1512 (est. $3,000-5,000); Rembrandt van Rijn, The Tribute Money, etching, circa 1635 (est. $6,000-8,000); and The Angel Departing from the Family of Tobias, etching, 1641 (est. $7,000-10,000).

European Prints feature Paul Klee, Der Seiltanzer, color lithograph, 1923 (est. $20,000-30,000); Henri Matisse, Danseuse au Tabouret, lithograph, 1926 (est. $10,000-15,000); several works by Pablo Picasso, including Francois sur Fond Gris, 1950 (est. $30,000-40,000) and Woman’s Head Crowned with Flowers, painted and partially glazed white ceramic pitcher, 1954 (est. $10,000-15,000); Alberto Giacometti, Studio with Two Pails, lithograph, 1955 (est. $4,000-6,000); and color lithographs by and After Marc Chagall, including Tribe of Asher, 1964 (est. $5,000-7,000).

American Prints are highlighted by James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Long Venice, etching printed in dark brown, 1879-80 (est. $10,000-15,000) and Drury Lane, etching, 1880-81 (est. $4,000-6,000); Charles Sheeler, Delmonico Building, lithograph, 1926 (est. $6,000-8,000); Childe Hassam, Floor of the Stock Exchange, etching, 1927 (est. $10,000-15,000); 36 works by Martin Lewis, including Shadow Dance, Drypoint and sandpaper ground, 1930 (est. $20,000-30,000); Milton Avery, Standing Nude, drypoint, 1941 (est. $2,000-3,000); and a rare Charles White etching, Melinda (est. $2,000-3,000).

Contemporary Prints feature prints by Andy Warhol, including Liz, color offset lithograph, 1964 (est. $15,000-20,000); Tom Wesselmann, Great American Nude Cutout, thinned color Liquitex and pencil, 1970 (est. $5,000-7,000); Claes Oldenburg, Miniature Soft Drum Set, multiple, 1970 (est. $5,000-7,000); David Hockney, Tulips, etching and aquatint, 1973 (est. $7,000-10,000); Alexander Calder, Our Unfinished Revolution, set of ten color lithographs, 1975-76 (est. $7,000-10,000); and Robert Motherwell, Red Sea I, color etching and aquatint, 1976 (est. $6,000-8,000).
