SOUTHAMPTON CITY.- The exhibition includes the two new monumental works As Time Goes By, exhibited in a public gallery for the first time. As Time Goes By are Hodgkin’s most ambitious and complex works to date. Each measuring over 20ft long, these two new pictures are the largest works the artist has ever made. They are also the largest works ever made, by any artist, using a combination of aquatint, carborundum embossing and painting in acrylic. The colours and vibrancy of the works have a brilliant impact on Southampton City Art Gallery’s space.
