PITTSBURGH, Pa., 4/11/10 – Silver Eye Center for Photography’s 6th Benefit Photography Auction and Brunch will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at its galleries at 1015 East Carson Street, Pittsburgh. One of the region-s signature art auctions, this year-s event features over 100 impressive lots of vintage and contemporary work by many internationally renowned photographers as well as exciting younger talent from across the United States. Sam Berkovitz, owner of Concept Art Gallery, returns as auctioneer.

Included are works by Duane Michals, W. Eugene Smith, Linda Connor, Maggie Taylor, Edward Steichen, Ralph Gibson, Clarence White, Charles -Teenie- Harris, Thomas D. Mangelsen, Ellen Carey, Henry Horenstein, Seth Dickerman, Lilo Raymond, Rosamond Purcell, Aaronel deRoy Gruber, Mark Perrott, Philipp Scholz Ritterman, Kael Alford, Lori Hepner, Ralph Gibson, Richard Misrach, Debbie Fleming Caffery, Marilyn Suriani and Dylan Vitone. Three portrait sessions with top Pittsburgh photographers John A. Fobes, Carol Maurin and Richard A. Stoner are also up for bidding just in time for Mother-s Day or that special family occasion.

Bidding and visitor information

Artwork can be previewed in person at the Silver Eye galleries through April 21, Tuesdays-Saturdays, 12 Noon-6 p.m. or by appointment. The auction begins on Sunday, April 25, 2010 with a brunch catered by Avenue B at 11 a.m. A popular new gem in the Pittsburgh restaurant scene, Avenue B will bring their global-inspired American bistro cuisine to Silver Eye with mini gravlax B.L.T.’s, assorted frittatas and more. Additionally, auction guests can expect a Boyd and Blair Vodka Bloody Mary bar-featuring two special Avenue B recipes-and mimosas provided by Barefoot Wine and Bubbly. The live auction will begin at 12:30 pm.

Auction proceeds support Silver Eye-s nationally-recognized exhibitions, fellowships to artists, school and summer programs, and workshops that promote the professional development of photographers working at every career level.
