Sotheby’s Swiss Art Sale Highlights Works by Giacometti, Hodler and Vallotton

GENEVA.- Sotheby’s forthcoming auction of Swiss Art will be held in Zurich, at the Talstrasse 83, on Monday, 7th December 2009, at 6pm. Urs Lanter and Stéphanie Schleining Deschanel, Specialists of Swiss Art at Sotheby’s, will offer 123 lots spanning more than 250 years of Swiss artistic history.

The sale highlights classical artists such as Amiet, Anker, Biéler, Bocion, Buchet, Calame, Giacometti, Hodler, Segantini and Vallotton to name just a few; and also includes contemporary artists with important figures like Disler, Mosset, Tinguely, Schneider, Spoerri, Graeser and Castelli.

Urs Lanter, Head of Swiss Art at Sotheby’s comments: «Our next Swiss Art public sale is distinguished by works of very high quality. We are proud to offer two exceptional and rare landscapes by Félix Vallotton which will appear at auction for the first time. The sale also includes a number of major works from Swiss private collections.”

A selection of paintings were already exhibited at the Hotel Beau-Rivage in Geneva from November 14th to 16th, 2009; and all lots will be on view in Zurich at the Talstrasse 83, from December 4th to 6th, 2009.
