Turner Prize-Winning Artist Mark Wallinger Protests Arts Cuts with New Work

LONDON.- A new work by Turner Prize-winning artist Mark Wallinger is released today as part of a campaign supported by over 100 leading British artists against the government’s proposed funding cuts of the arts. Mark Wallinger’s work shows a copy of Turner’s masterpiece, The Fighting Temeraire, 1839 by Joseph Mallord William Turner, in the collection of the National Gallery in London. Mike Nelson Selected to Represent Britain at the 54th Venice Biennale

LONDON.- Born in Loughborough in 1967, Nelson is internationally acclaimed for his meticulous sculptural installations. He was the recipient of a Paul Hamlyn Award in 2001 and has twice been short-listed for the Turner Prize. One of his large-scale installations, “The Coral Reef”, 2000, acquired by Tate in 2008, will be shown in the new Collection Displays at Tate Britain from 17 May 2010.
