Two Evocative Paintings of Welsh Landscapes to be Auctioned at Bonhams

LONDON.- Two beautiful oil paintings of the Welsh countryside by Alfred de Breanski are to feature in Bonhams auction of 19th Century Paintings on 27th January 2011. Fishermen and cattle, Betts-y-Coed is expected to fetch £10,000-15,000 while The Llugwy from Pont-y-Cyfyng, Capel Curig is estimated to sell for £5,000-7,000. Turner’s Welsh seascape sells for more than £500,000

London.- A painting by Turner depicting a Welsh castle drenched in the orange glow of a sunrise has become the latest Welsh masterpiece to buck a depressed art market after fetching more than £500,000 at auction.
